RetroQuest — Privacy Policy

1. Overview

RetroQuest is a gamified map exploration and walking game that transforms real-world geography into customizable retro video game aesthetics (8-bit fantasy, 16-bit arcade racing, cyberpunk, and monochrome handheld). We respect your privacy and design our application with data minimization at its core.

2. Location & Sensor Data

To provide core gameplay features, RetroQuest requests access to your device's geolocation (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION):

• Purpose: Geolocation is used locally on your device to display your character avatar on the map, calculate walking distance/steps, and detect nearby landmark check-in points (e.g., shrines, race checkpoints).
• No Tracking / No Cloud Storage: Your real-time location is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to, stored on, or sold to our servers or any third-party data brokers.
• Simulation Mode: Users can choose to use the built-in directional walk simulator at any time without granting device location permissions.

3. Advertising & Monetization

For users on our free tier, RetroQuest integrates Google AdMob to display banner ads and rewarded video advertisements:

• Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect advertising identifiers (GAID), device information, and interaction metrics in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
• Users can upgrade to the RetroQuest VIP Pass at any time to permanently remove all third-party advertisements and trackers.

4. In-App Purchases (Google Play Billing)

In-app transactions for the VIP Pass, map skins, and coin bundles are processed securely through the official Google Play Billing system. We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

RetroQuest is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13.
